I think regular follow-up goes a long way in making the treatment more effective. Moreover calling up the patient once in 2 or 3 months also helps to maintain a good relation with the patient.

Freebies like a toothbrush, toothpaste, floss etc. may also help.

also one can hand out brochures on maintaining healthy teeth and gums
