Close on the heels of her breaking up with her property developer fiancé Anand Gowda, actor Pooja Gandhi now finds herself embroiled in another controversy, this time falling out with an old friend.
Friend-turned-foe
In a complaint couriered to the Subramanyapura police, her friend-turned-foe T.V. Kiran, an associate professor at a dental college in the city, has accused Ms. Gandhi and her father, Pavan Kumar, of sending SMSs and has sought protection for him and his family.
Complaint filed
Countering this, Ms. Gandhi went to the Chennamanakere Achchukattu police station along with her father on Thursday and filed a complaint against Dr. Kiran, charging him of intimidation and spreading canards about her.
The message
Dr. Kiran’s complaint accuses Ms. Gandhi and Mr. Kumar of making threatening calls to him on Wednesday, the day of her breakup. He said her father used one phone while she used two. Her SMS read: “By mistake also don’t tell anyone, I will kill you,” he said.
Dr. Kiran, who said he knew the actor for the last seven years, said he fell out with her and her father in 2009 over money matters. He added that a false case was registered against him 18 months ago by the actor, which is pending before the court.
Police denial
Though the Subramanyapura police denied receiving any complaint against the actor and her father, The Hindu has in its possession the postal acknowledgement of the complaint received by them.
Ms. Gandhi told reporters she had never made any threats and claimed Dr. Kiran was mentally unsound. “He has been threatening me with dire consequences since 2011 and I have complained against him. The matter is in court.”
