If you can afford to go to the dentist at all, then you can afford to travel overseas for treatment – and throw in a vacation for free!. As dental prices climb and insurance cover decreases, alternatives to expensive dental care have become less of a luxury and more of a need. Imagine this: you could fly to Thailand, lie on the beach for a week, get your teeth whitened and have a new porcelain crown made and placed – all for less than the price of a single crown back home.

Dental tourism is a subset of the sector known as medical tourism. It involves individuals seeking dental care outside of their local healthcare systems and may be accompanied by a vacation. Dental tourism is growing worldwide: as the world becomes ever more interdependent and competitive, technique, material, and technological advances spread rapidly, enabling providers in “developing countries” to provide dental care at significant cost savings when compared with their peers in the developed world. Dental tourists travel chiefly to take advantage of lower prices. Reasons for lower prices are many: dentists outside the “developed world” are able to take advantage of much lower fixed costs, lower labor costs, less government intervention, lower education fees and expenses, and lower insurance costs.

India is fast emerging as one of the top dental tourism destinations in the world with world class dental treatment with large savings and the country being a great holiday. Every year thousands of people from all parts of the globe including the developed nations such as, USA, Canada, UK, Europe, etc., travel to India for low cost but world class dental treatment. Apart from costs of dental treatment medical tourists find India very attractive country to travel. Medical care quality in India has seen a tremendous growth in recent years. Indian doctors and hospitals are globally known for their kindness and personal care towards their patients.

The key to finding a good local dentist was to ask someone local, who they use.  That way you save quite a bit of money from those on the beaten dental tourism websites.

When combined with a holiday, as the name implies, dental tourism can be an opportunity to receive low-cost, quality dental care. Dental tourism is expected to continue growing, as consumers continue to seek out lower-cost options.
