Greeting to all.

I would like to start this discussion on the topic of upper central incisal edge position. Ask yourself the following questions:

1. Do you feel the incisal edge position is relavant to esthetic dentistry?

2. How do you determine where the incisal edge position needs to be ( vertically and horizontally) ?

3. How do you verify the incisal edge position?

4. How is the incisal edge position related to function?

5. How do you do this predictably?

Please take some time and post your opinions and thoughts about this subject. The purpose of this discussion is to find out more about your understanding of the importance of this subject when it comes to treatment planning any esthetic or functional case. Once you all respond, I will create another forum to discuss this subject in more detail.

A point which came to my mind is that we cant play around too much upper central incisal edge position if we are working on only on central incisors. The incisal edge will be dictated by the position of lateral incisors.

If we are working on all the anteriors than we have more more room to move the position vertically and horizontally.
