Pt. wanted to save the crown if possible. It is an all ceramic crown and access was made with minimal damage to the crown. Ensuring that the complete chamber space is cleaned and hoping that the irrigant would get there, is this approach justified?

yes I think it is. the crown will provide esthetics till the time RCT is completed.

since there is a periapical the RCT could take time. There could be periapical surgery required.

So the cap can be left in place and changed ( if required) after endo is over.

The only problem is that sometimes there is massive leakage below the crown ( and at times so much so that the whole clinical crown is destroyed) . Than restoring the tooth becomes difficult.

However from the xray this does not seem to be a possibility.

    Regards,

    veeren

There is no problem wid dis kind of approach .. only during access opening the crown should not be damaged or the vibrations from the handpiece should not disrupt luting cement..
