Orthodontic treatment is very much possible but tooth movement will occur at a slower rate. Also we cannot carry out growth modification procedures during this age group so cases with significant skeletal discrepancies are to be treated surgically only. Periodontal condition, presence of tooth wear in the form of attrition, abrasion , bone loss (vertical/horizontal) , number of missing/restored teeth are all important factors which should be considered before starting treatment whether it is an extraction case or a non-extraction one. Retention period after treatment also varies depending upon the severity of the treated malocclusion.
