Hi Dr Norbert ,
There are 2 ways to go about it , and you’ll need magnification for both of them.
1. Under a microscope , use an ultrasonic handpiece with an endodontic file removal tip. Tips are available from Acteon ET 25 in their endo kit , or from Dentsply as well. Use the tip to gradually ultrasonic the #ed screw head . Once out , the screw channel will be free to engage again.
2. If the 1st step does not work, then create a straight channel with a round or cylindrical bur on the cover screw , pretty much similar to how its on a regular hardware screw. Bend the end of a wax carver and flatten the tip with a bit to engage the above created channel and rotate the cover screw out. You will need magnification to do this and a lot of patience as well., but it will work.
