there are various treatment modalities for excessive gingival display. Gingivectomy, veneers, otrthodontic treatment etc, etc, etc, can be used for treatment of excessive gingival display.
the treatment depends upon the clinical conditions, the age of the patient, the periodontal condition of the dentition, the patients desires , the training of the dentist, the quality of lab support available etc. etc. etc.
recently I read that Botox can also be used for treatment of excessive gingival display. A litttle bit of Botox is injected in the upper lip which makes it a little bit flaccid. This reduces the exposure of the upper gingivae. As would be obvious proper case selection is a must.
