The plaque harbours bacteria which are acidogenic , this probably leads to wearing of enamel over a long period of time, in mouths where oral hygiene has not been maintained
This wearing of enamel can be a probable cause of sensitivity
In many cases the plaque and calculus leads to gingival inflammation and recession where roots are exposed and patient suffers from sensitivity
only if it leads to caries or decay it will cause sensitivity
