Most of the people I know made New Year’s Resolutions. I know I did!
So tell me, how did January go for you? Did you dive right onto your New Year’s resolutions? Did you stick to that ne diet? How is your office production end of month for January? Did you get great results?
I’m not trying to annoy you, I swear! I am just here to give you an accountability moment with your coach. So tell me, how’d you do?
Ok… Not talking, are you…
So maybe I just touched a nerve.
Well…okay, I don’t hear anything and your lips don’t seem to be moving.
Let me begin with how it went for me…
My month went really well. Started a new eating plan and lost 4 lbs so far in 4 weeks.
A bit slower than I had hoped for but I found a coach and accountability partner so I am on track to lose weight.
Started to sell my Forever White™ wholesale to offices all over the world!
And then my colleague Jan Lazarus, RDH, Co-founder of The JP Institute and I developed and launched our wellness program with other dental offices AND throughout the world!
I was for the 7th year in a row been one of Dentistry Today’s Top Consultants and will be speaking at all of the CDEA Dental Conferences in 2013 which means I get to visit San Diego about 4 times in 2013!! YEY! SUN!
Yeah, I’m feeling pretty good about the first month of the year. I’m on track.
Now it’s time to talk about February. It’s a new month! And it’s a SHORT one. So what’s your plan? You know, your P-L-A-N.
Another little 4 letter word. Is it a bad word or a good word?
YOU DECIDE!
I am talking about the one thing we end up with after we do the same thing. Plan the plan. Do you have one?
I’m not talking about what time you arrive at the office or when you have to drop the kids off for sports games.
The big picture. The moving parts and tiny baby steps that will take you outside of your comfort zone. Yeah, that plan.
OK…So you do have a plan? Are you on track to reach your goals and succeed at what you want this year?
If you don’t have one, it’s time. Don’t you think it’s time?
Want a simple solution? I can tell you what I do:
1) Write it down
I LOVE this app called Evernote. It’s an app I use all the time.
You can also use Evernote to write down goals that you can look at anytime you pick up your mobile phone. So make a goals notebook, and start writing.
2) Meet with your team
Not only write your goals as if they are happening right now but have your team write down theirs. Meet this month of February to share your personal goals but see if you are on track for the February goals and what you can do differently this month. ESPECIALLY IF you didn’t make you didn’t make your goals.
See the difference? Feel the difference.3) Mark it on your calendar
Do you have your vacation days written down? Not just doctors but everyone on the team. Schedule and plan now.4) Assign categories for your goals
At least deal with February, okay?
For your dental practice fill in marketing, networking, social media, administrative duties, patient loyalty programs such as Forever White™, Supplies and other events such as open house or a special for your patients. (Whitening specials, Sonicare specials, etc)5) Read your goals and review your plan daily or at least weekly
Keep your eyes on the prize. This step is key for motivation.
We all need fresh motivation every day, just like we need food for fuel.Report if you are on track to meet your goals at your daily team huddle.
Planning is really not all that hard, right? Right! You can totally do this.
Go for the Goal (GOLD!)
