Dentigerous cyst are the most common developmental types of odontogenic cyst occuring in oral cavity, attached to cervical region of an unerupted tooth and enclosing the crown. The exact etiology is unknown and may be referred to follicular cyst.
Most are developmental with a typical histology of a wall of loose fibrous tissue, lined by thin regular epithelium evolving from remnant of reduced enamel epithelium around the crown of impacted tooth.
dentigerous cyst are second most common odontogenic cyst , highest incidence of dentigerous cyst occur during the 2nd and 3rd decades with slight male predilection. Teeth most commonly affected are mandibular 3rd molar followed by maxillary canine & mandibular premolar.
A 58 year old male presented swelling wrt R back tooth region since 1 month . Swelling was gradual over period of 1 month & currently attained the size. Patient doesnt gives h/o pain .
On examination:
gross fascial asymmetry noted, mild extraoral swelling noted in front of the angle of mandible measuring approx 2x2cm, no sinus fistula over the skin. Skin over the swelling is normal colour but slightly streched.
On palpation:
all inspectory findings confirmed ,no local rise of temperature ,no tenderness on palpation noted, fluctuant ,soft, no lymph nodes involved.

clinically missing 48
partially erupted 38
missing teeth 11 ,47
prosthesis noted 11
Investigation: OPG, CBCT
Treatment done:
excisional biopsy with surgical extraction of 48 under local anesthesia.
