EROSION,ABRASION AND ABFRACTION represent the non carious lesions placed cervically
1)EROSION—It is found on facial or lingual surfaces of multiple teeth and usually affecting maxillary anteriors.
The cavity is broad shallow saucer shaped will ill defined margins and enamel surface is smooth and polished.
2)ABRASION—Found on facial surfaces of teeth affecting multiple teet, usually the facial surfaces of maxillary canines and molars.Also depends on dexterity of the patient.
The cavity is notched, wedged or v-shaped with sharp well defined margins and the enamel is smooth with scratches.
3)ABFRACTION—Found on facial surfaces, usually affecting single tooth placed subgingivally.
It has wedge shape with sharp margins,enamel is rough in initial stages and gets grooves inlater stages
