Dental Restoration Production Brought to Small and Mid-sized Dental Laboratories.
Small and mid-sized Dental labs get a new opportunity for achieving in-house automated production of dental restorations from their 3D data. A new integrated interface between the desktop Roland DWX Series Dental Milling Machines and 3Shape CAMbridge™ manufacturing software provides a remarkably easy-to-use and affordable manufacturing solution that produces a wide range of dental indications.
Copenhagen, Denmark & Hamamatsu, Japan, April 26 2011. – 3Shape A/S, an innovative leader in CAD/CAM dental solutions and Roland DG Corporation, a leading worldwide producer of 3D milling and engraving technologies, and have worked together to offer dental labs a seamless interface between their systems. With this new interface, 3Shape CAMbridge™ has become Roland’s preferred and recommended choice of CAM systems for their DWX-30 and DWX-50 series.
“This powerful combination of Roland’s 3D milling machine DWX series and the popular 3Shape CAMbridge™ software will contribute to help dental labs take advantage of the benefits brought by digitalization, such as stable and high-quality production on demand in a short time, ” said Kevin Shigenoya, Roland DG Corporation executive officer and general manager of Product Marketing Department.
Flemming Thorup, CEO at 3Shape says: “This new 3Shape and Roland interface solution is completely in line with our commitment to engage in dental industry agreements that bring together the best in CAD/CAM dentistry technology for the benefit of dental labs worldwide.”
The solution makes in-house Zirconia milling available to labs of any size, opening profitable new service possibilities and full control of restoration results. The interface enables fully automatic preparation and 3+1/3+2 axis milling of Copings, Crowns, and Bridges in Zirconia, directly castable dental forms in wax and temporaries in PMMA.
“Usability was key factor in making a solution that appeals to smaller labs,” says David Fischer, Project Manager for 3Shape CAMbridge™. “All manufacturing steps can be operated easily by in-house lab technicians after only a brief introduction.”
“The DWX-30 is our first, special model for the dental market. The new model, DWX-50, offers precision 5-axis control for more advanced applications,” said Yuki Shimizu, Roland DG Dental Product Manager. “Both DWX models are easy-to-use, versatile, affordable and desktop machines that will fit in any lab. Users only need to attach a tool, set the material to cut, and send their data to the DWX.”
The versatile solution can be run directly from inside 3Shape’s DentalSystem™ – Dental Manager™/Dental Designer™ software or integrated with other CAD systems.
The new interface is available as of today. Users who wish to benefit from this opportunity should contact their local Roland distributor.
