    Distraction

    •Slow bone expansion

    •Three dimensional hard and soft tissue growth

    •Distraction allows normal function during the procedure

    •Less operating time

    Orthognathic Surgery

    Bone is cut and immediately located in new position

    •Limits the movement achievable

    •Large movement -Bone grafting

     

     

    ▪Short time (3 to 4 years or less)– no Asymmetry – Orthodontic decompensation of dental occlusion- ORTHOGNATHIC SURGERY

    ▪Long time (4 to 10years)- Asymmetry – Orthodontic decompensation – DISTRACTION – Orthognathic surgery
