Facts About Oral Healthcare:
1.Many people still use a neem twig to brush their teeth in India because of its bactericidal property.

6.In the dark ages, superstitious people believed that by obtaining a tooth from a hanged criminal a person could cure his toothache or re-grow a lost tooth.

19.Acid production from dental plaque occurs within 20 minutes after eating causing tooth decay. Hence rinsing the mouth with water after eating is recommended. It also helps to dislodge food particles.

21.A white or a red patch inside the mouth or a small indurated ulcer like a common canker sore could be leading to oral cancer and should not be neglected.
22.Also a lump or mass which can be felt inside the mouth or neck, pain or difficulty in swallowing, speaking or chewing, any wart like masses, hoarseness, which lasts for a long time or any numbness in the oral/ facial region, unilateral persistent ear ache should also be investigated.
23.Oral cancers can be confirmed on biopsy samples taken from the suspected area.
24.Smoking causes the loss of two teeth every ten years. If you start smoking a pack of cigarettes at age 18 you will lose between four and five teeth by age 35.
25.Smokers who also drink are 15 to 38 times more likely to develop oral cancer than those who didn’t do either.
26.Change your toothbrush every 3 months.
27.Gum infections have been called the sixth complication of diabetes because people with diabetes are more likely to have gum disease.
28.The severity of gum disease increases amongst people with uncontrolled diabetes.
29.Cows do not have upper front teeth and their bottom ones never stop growing.
30.The rats front teeth are constantly growing throughout life and to get rid of the itching sensation due to this growth they bite into everything they see.
