A lot of patients suffer from this very common problem of Gum bleeding. And most commonly their gums bleed while they are brushing their teeth. So, they feel that this tooth-brushing is the real villain.
After stopping the use of toothbrush, they start using all sorts of unspecified methods and so-called “natural’ products to get rid of this problem. And they now “rub” their teeth with their finger using these products.
What happens as a result of doing all this ? — the patients may not get gum bleeding for sometime. So, they feel that their disease has been cured simply by stopping the toothbrush use. And now these noble souls become the ambassadors for No-toothbrushing initiative —’cos it leads to bleeding gums.
However, the fact is that by stopping to use toothbrush, they just help in progresssion of the gum disease. This is just a false sense of security. As the patients no longer gets gum bleeding, he feels he is cured. However, in the absence of professional advice and treatment by a qualified dentist, the damage caused by gum disease goes on unabated.
Then what is the cure ? — The exact use is to seek professional advice from a qualified dental surgeon. Most common cause of this problem of bleeding gums is chronic inflammation of the gums caused by the dental calculus which gets collected over the teeth in the absence of good oral hygiene.
The dentist removes those dental calculus deposits and also gives instructions in meticulous oral hygiene. And this problem of gum bleeding is over !!
Even though once cured, if the patient does not pay proper attention to his oral hygiene, this problem of gum bleeding strikes again. So, maintaining a good oral hygiene and regular, periodic dental check-up is a must for that sparking, healthy set of teeth.
