The figure shows a provisional fixed bridge in place over the recently grafted edentulous ridge, shown at ten days following the graft procedure.

Generally four to six months are allowed to pass before restoring the grafted edentulous site with implants or fixed bridgework. In some cases, implants can be placed at the time of the bone graft, if adequate stabilization of the implants can be achieved. A temporary (“provisional”) bridge could be placed immediately (at the time of the graft) if a fixed bridge is planned as the final restoration.
