The presence of cracks originating from the root canal negatively influences the seal of root-end filling materials and is probably of major clinical importance. MTA and Fuji IX showed equal sealing capacity, but MTA showed better obturation efficiency in the root-end cavity than Fuji IX.

How can cracks possibly develop in the root canal?

I would like to stress on the importance of post obturation fillings that most of us take lightly….the use of a perfect seal material like amlgam and composite is indicated…the longer the zoe pack is left in the mouth..the more are the chances of microleakage especially if the gp s are not sealed well..

Most of us give high priority to apical seal..the coronal seal is also of high relevance..one of the major reasons of failure of root canal treatment is lack of coronal seal..
