Demonstrates a 100% isolation technique of a tooth using a rubber dam and ligature to prep the area. Using wax floss tied in a surgeon’s knot (looping twice), the rubber dam drops to the sulcus and keeps the single tooth isolated from the rest of the mouth. Tissue and fluid leakage are now eliminated, keeping a dry environment. The adhesive steps on the single tooth are now easier to manage, providing a high and dry margin.

while rubber dam would be the best many studies have shown that there is no difference in the longevity of the fillings done with or without the rubber dam. So proper isolation with cotton rolls coupled with proper suction should do the job.
