Metal Dentures. Don’t often strike as an option for denture patients, Esp. Single denture, that too, with a frequent history of Frequent Denture Breakage history. Although, cost is an important factor, to be considered in Indian Scenario, but for a patient, with a history of 7 maxillary denture fracture, it becomes a must for such patient as a recommendation. Presenting a case, where patient had got 7 maxillary dentures made (Including someone made metal denture base and I made conventional 6th denture). But, we learn the most from our failures. On thorough Examination, i realized that His occlusal plane was neglected and thats where the reason that his complete dentures were frequently breaking. On Explaining to the patient about his current situation, patient agreed for replacing his mandibular posteriors as per the maxillary plane evaluation. Giving 7th denture as a reference to keep a check for occlusal plane evaluation, replaced mandibular posteriors followed by Maxillary Denture Fabrication. Later, also realized that his conventional dentures were very heavy as compared to the metal denture I made. Every Case is unique in its own way, and we Keep on Learning something or the other from our experiences and Prosthodontics is such that it cannot always follow Bookish treatment, but lateral thinking.
critics and suggestions are welcome…
