NuVista Medical, LLC – Announces: Release of Flo-Assist (R) Endoscopy Irrigation Set, Indicated for: Urology, Small Joint Arthroscopy, and Post-Op. Irrigation
(1888PressRelease) May 14, 2010 – Cincinnati, OH – NuVista Medical, LLC – Announces: Release of a revised Flo-Assist ® Endoscopy Irrigation Set, Indicated for: Urology, Small Joint Arthroscopy, and Post-operative Irrigation.
Endoscopic Surgery procedures such as ureteroscopy, laser prostate ablation, bladder tumor, and small joint arthroscopy are technically demanding and are generally viewed on a video monitor by the Surgeon and Scrub Assistant. They require clear visualization of the anatomy, and precise manipulation of tissue using fine instruments. Adding to the challenge are the tight working spaces inside the access portals, and cloudy images caused by swirling tissue, blood and other fluids. It is essential that the surgeon have precise control of irrigation fluid to open up tight spaces, and clear away cloudy debris in his field-of-view.
Flo-Assist ® is a new single use irrigation system requiring no capital equipment to operate. It is manufactured in the US and has received product registrations with the US- FDA, European – CE, and a Canadian Health License. Flo-Assist ® is the only all-in-one Single Use irrigation set that functions as a: Cystoscopy Set, Flow-Assist device, and Post-Op Irrigation Set, potentially saving a surgical facility the price and set-up time of using two or three different tubing sets. It may be activated by either the Surgeon or by the Scrub assistant using the foot pedal or by grasping the squeeze chamber by hand. With irrigation bag spike, drip chamber, foot pedal, roller clamp, standard luer fittings, and ample tubing length, Flo-Assist ® is versatile, and is indicated for Urology and Arthroscopy procedures such as: Ureteroscopy, Laser Ablation of the Prostate, Bladder Tumor, PNL, and Small Joint Arthroscopy. With the addition of a pressure relief valve, Flo-Assist® may be used in Hysteroscopy. A convenient Luer Lock to Foley catheter adapter is included to facilitate connection to a catheter for post-operative irrigation on the nursing floor.
Kevin Gallagher, President of NuVista Medical said Flo-Assist ® was designed with the input of several prominent Endourology Surgeons in the US and the UK.
“We really listened to what Surgeons, Nurses, and Surgical Assistants had to say in the development Flo-Assist ®. With several instruments utilized in these demanding cases, such as endoscopes, guide wires, forceps, and laser fibers, a surgeon needs several hands to maneuver fine instruments. Alternative irrigation assist devices utilize hand held syringes, which are often passed off to the Assistant to deploy. Complaints of hand fatigue, and poorly timed irrigation flow are frequently the result. Flo-Assist may be used by either Surgeon or by Scrub Assistant. It accommodates either foot pedal control or hand control preferences. Flo-Assist can be used in the OR as a stand alone tubing set, and it can be transferred to the nursing floor with the patient for post-op. irrigation. Flo-Assist ® provides a simple solution in a cost effective single use package, with no capital equipment required”.
