It has been reported that cystic fibrosis (CF) patients have less caries than control subjects. Frequent antibiotic intake, which would decrease the number of bacteria in the oral cavity, and a higher salivary buffer capacity was thought to be responsible for this finding. More recently, a higher caries prevalence in CF adult patients has been reported.
