Orthodontic treatment carries a higher risk of mucosal lesions and implies greater awareness of better oral hygiene.Oral hygiene instructions and early treatment of oral lesions are important considerations in better patient’s motivation, treatment planning, and successful outcome.

care should be taken by orthodontists to ensure that no free sharp wire ends are left open or any sharp edges are potentially damaging small pieces of dental wax maybe applied to avoid trauma

These chronic traumatic ulcers could lead to severe lesions
One can prescribe anaethetic gels

How dangerous are lingual braces compared to the usual ones?

Lingual braces can cause trauma to tongue more commonly than regular braces

ulcers may be seen present in the mouth because of sharp edges
