    PRACTICE MANAGEMENT SURVEY

    This practice management mini survey was given to a few dentists in a recent seminar

    * Number of days in a week you practice?
    Most of the doctors practice 6 days a week.

    * Number of hours a day you practice?
    Most of the doctors practice 8 hours a day.

    * Number of chairs in your clinic?
    Most of the dentist have one chair in their clinic

    * Number of hours of CE you take every year?

    * Do you digitize your patient’s data?
    Most of the dentist do not digitize their patients data

    * What is your overall profit margin?
    Answer varied from 15% to 50%

    * Is it increasing with every passing year?
    Most of the doctors have said that their overall professional margin and profession receipts are the same every year which means that the professional receipts is plateaued off and are stagnant.

    * Are you satisfied with dentistry as a profession?
    50% of the dentists were satisfied with dentistry as a profession and 50% mentioned somewhat.
    1 dentist said initially yes but of late no.

    * Do you call a specialist/s in your clinic?
    Most dentist call a specialist in their clinics

    * Are your professional receipts increasing every year?
    Most of the respondents said that their professional receipts are stagnant and not increasing year after year.

    * Do you have a retirement plan in place?
    Most of the doctors did not have a retirement plan in place.

    * The dental procedures which you find the most profitable
    Most of the doctors mentioned endodontics & fillings as their most profitable procedure.

    * How many auxiliary staff do you employ?
    Most dentists employ one or two auxiliary staff

    Although the general public considers dentistry as a respected profession, there is no respect for the profession from within the fraternity.
    Its such a sorry state that only half of the dentists are satisfied with what they are doing.
    And the fact that most dentists have not registered growth in their practice is because they are not putting their heart into the profession.
