Like any other profession the field of dentistry has its own set of tools. With the progress in technology, the tools and equipment used in the dentistry field have become more sophisticated. Here three important equipment’s are discussed which are used extensively in the profession of dentistry namely dental face shields, dental headlights and eye loupes. Each of them has its own importance and dentists rely upon them heavily to carry out their work in the most precise manner.
Dental Face shields: These are protective gear which dentists have to wear to protect their body against any fluids. The dental headlights are made up of disposable material that is very light. This is because it has to be worn by surgeons for long number of hours. These instruments are ultra-transparent and they clip on to the prescription glasses, safety glasses, plastic support frames and on eye loupes. This instrument acts as a barrier between the body and give protection against body fluid spatter and sprays.
Dental Headlights: They are portable and light weight portable headlights. High quality dental surgical headlights can generate up to 7000 foot candle light which helps to view the working extremely well. It also provides station-to-station mobility. They are light weight and are therefore very comfortable to wear even for long number of hours.
They emit true white light which delivers brightness, sharpness and superior field depth. They also come with a Light Filter System which prevents the curing of composites that are likely to occur because of the sharp light beam projected by the surgical headlight. These days, surgical headlight are provided with the most advanced battery technology and their one charge can produce up to 8 hours of run time. They can be attached to all flip up or TTL (through the lens) loupe configurations.
Eye loupes: These are similar to microscopes which magnify the working area to different extents. They magnify the working area and dentists can view the entities in the patient’s mouth very clearly. Surgeons can perform the most delicate surgeries with precision and accuracy. The surgical loupes are classified in different classes such as Class 1,2,3 and 4. The class 1 is the least expensive and consists of single lens loupe. The second class 2 and 3 have magnification power between from 2.0 and 2.9 and between 3.0 and 3.9 respectively. The class 4 includes magnification power between 4.0 and 4.9. They improve the ergonomic position and help to work in a precise manner.
