The dental industry today is flooded with a wide range of dental chairs — from budget models to high-end setups. But what happens when these chairs reach the end of their functional life or dentists planning to upgrade for better features?
After 10–15 years (and sometimes even sooner), many chairs begin to show their age. I’m currently looking for sustainable ways to part with an old dental chair, and I’ve explored a few common options:
Donating to charitable dental clinics – a noble route, but unfortunately, such clinics are few and far between in Mumbai.
Selling it – not practical, as most buyers prefer new chairs, often available at throwaway prices.
Giving it to a technician – possible, but comes with charges for pickup, which makes sense considering transport and storage.
While I understand the logistics and limitations involved, I’m curious:
Are there any other responsible, eco-conscious, or creative ways to upgrade or dispose of a dental chair?
I’d love to hear from fellow professionals who’ve dealt with similar situations.
