Well, go for a MRI in this case as it most probably looks like a case involving the articular disc of the right TMJ….maybe disc dislocation with reduction. If u want to go into details consult okeson’s textbook on TMJ abnormalities. Mostly these cases require hot sponging alongwith some kind of intraoral splint that positions the mandible slightly forward. Consult the text book for more details.

The condition of the root of the deciduous molar tells whether they are going too exfoliate or not…so get the x-ray done but in most of the cases it needs extraction

It is really a good post regarding the treatment modalities of traumatic occlusion but please elaborate on the role of occlusal splints in the correction of this type of occlusion. Also shed some light on the commonly used jaw positioners for treating TMJ anomalies.

Orthodontic treatment is very much possible but tooth movement will occur at a slower rate. Also we cannot carry out growth modification procedures during this age group so cases with significant skeletal discrepancies are to be treated surgically only. Periodontal condition, presence of tooth wear in the form of attrition, abrasion , bone loss (vertical/horizontal) , number of missing/restored teeth are all important factors which should be considered before starting treatment whether it is an extraction case or a non-extraction one. Retention period after treatment also varies depending upon the severity of the treated malocclusion.

dentists should maintain a proper timetable keeping a balance between work and relaxation…should take a day off from work atleast once a week for recreation and refreshment otherwise productivity is bound to take a fall….spend the day out with family or engage in other social activities like clubs or sports to keep both mind and body fit.

Medical representatives are important as they help us to keep abreast with the latest drugs and innovations of the pharmaceutical industries….I receive about a dozen MR’s every month and receive only drug samples as gifts which I distribute among the patients…..I think medical reps are important and are of great help to the doctor by keeping him update about latest developments in the pharmaceutical industry…..however they should time their visits according to the doctor’s timetable and meet him when he is free and also should not visit the same doc too frquently.

Dear colleague I am working in a govt. institute and we have about 6 dental hygienists working here. They perform a number of tasks according to the requirement like taking x-rays, oral prophylaxis and patient management. Sometimes they can also help as chairside assistants. So they have many roles to play.

The symptoms of the H1N1 flu virus in people are similar to the symptoms of seasonal flu and include fever, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, body aches, headache, chills and fatigue. A significant number of people who have been infected with novel H1N1 flu virus also have reported diarrhea and vomiting. The high risk groups for novel H1N1 flu are not known at this time, but it’s possible that they may be the same as for seasonal influenza.

well…a number of general practitioners are taking ortho cases….about 30%..while the rest have got visiting orthodontists in their clinical setups…these practitioners start up the cases but are unable to finish them…however simple cases of non-extraction space closures are carried out by them..
