    The best way of retaining the patients who have already visited your clinic is to give them the best treatment, be truthful, maintain your appointments, if postponed or cancelled due to unavoidable circumstances inform the pt. on phone, develop a good rapport with them, be very considerate regarding the pain factor. These are the basic things which can be taken care of. There are some extra things also like giving gifts etc.

    The receptionist should atleast know the local languages spoken in that locality along with HINDI & ENGLISH. Ofcourse other skills are compulsory.

    select a receptionist who is good looking and well-dressed, and then train her to always greet the patients with a smiling face and handle the patients with lot of patience when required.

    Dry mouth or xerostomia has been reported with diabetes mellitus. Xerostomia is a risk factor for dental caries.
    Oral candidiasis has been a consistent finding in patients with diabetes mellitus.

    Soothing instrumental music like flute etc, for both outpatients as well as for work area are better than T.V. Also some good magazines in waiting room are preferred. T.V is distracting for the dentist.

    I think all practitioners may not afford to spend so much time in HAVENING procedure.

    this is definitely true as per my experience, because I see in my practice that female patients are more for their routine dental check-up as compared to male patients.
