An imperative change that needs to be undertaken is granting a vital status to the dentists in the overall healthcare system, by the Council as well as the Government. This will help in creating alternative employment options for the dentists in a situation where private practice seems to be the only sane option. For instance, dentists can be employed at primary and community health centres which currently have no or very few dentists.
