well, what i feel ideally speaking when a tooth is indicated for RCT, it should be started with cbct. But when taking out considerations like the added costs, time, distance and motivation for the patients, it’s genuinely a great tool for success, particularly for dentists having inhouse CBCT that really helps for immediate diagnosis and treatment success.
so, in practical scenario, for a tooth like molars i would genuinely prefer and mandibular premolars where anatomy is under doubt thorugh radiographs, i would definaltely advice for starting with cbct and then root canal treatment.
one more addtional thing, not many knows, but it also helps in further planning after RCT as well. so understand patient needs and follow the process.
