The dental lab is the backbone of any dental practice.

Therefore it is important that a dentist select his lab carefully and maintains a good rapport with them.

All the lab work must be critically evaluated daily and critically.

With increasing competition patients are now pampered for choices and patients now expect the lab prostheses to be delivered very fast.

So not only must the lab deliver quality prostheses but must deliver it fast.

Besides the  lab must be fully equipped to handle emergency cases. The lab must also understand that at times some work may have to be repeated. They must do so at no cost.

Every dentist must also know about the materials and techniques used in the lab.

There is nothing more frustrating for the patients then a crown coming out or the ceramic facing on the crown chipping of.

Most of the time in such cases the patient simply changes his dentist.

It is also important that you follow up regularly with patients so that you know the exact success rate of your crowns, bridges and dentures.

Don’t expect that all your prostheses to have a 100% success rate.

So meet your lab technicians regularly, invite them for your social get together and get to know them thoroughly.

After all, the dental lab is your main partner in success
